The Ayana J. McAllister Legacy Foundation
Scholarship 2024

Dear Student,

We founded the Ayana J. McAllister Legacy Foundation Academic Scholarship in March 2017 after the tragic death of our daughter, Ayana J. McAllister who was the victim of senseless gun violence in Washington, D.C. Ayana was a freshman at St. Augustine’s University in Raleigh, N.C when her life was cut short.

This scholarship honors our beloved daughter, and serves high school seniors and/or current college students from the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area (Southern Maryland, Washington, D.C., or Northern Virginia), who plan to attend, or are currently enrolled in, college full-time and who have personally been impacted by gun violence.

The application criteria is attached and we encourage you to apply. We hope to award several scholarships in 2024, but the option to award more will be determined at the end of the application process.

The deadline for submission of the application is April 30, 2024 and awardees will be notified in June 2024 by mail (written or electronically). Scholarships will be awarded up to $1,500. All scholarship awards will be made payable to the college or university after final verification of admission. Verification must be submitted to the Foundation directly. The awardee will be provided specific instructions for the verification process.

We look forward to reviewing your application. If you have additional questions please contact Joe Youcha, Scholarship Chairperson, by email at ajmlegacyfoundation@gmail.com.

Sincerely,

Anthony and Tyreese McAllister
